May 6, Wednesday, 7pm: Showing of Film: "Frontiers of Dreams & Fears," Muddy Cup, Saugerties, NY. "Frontiers of Dreams and Fears" traces the delicate friendship that evolves between two Palestinian girls: Mona, a resident of the economically marginalized Beirut refugee camp and Manar, an occupant of Bethlehem's Al-Dheisha camp. Children of Occupation Project
Co-OP, the Children of Occupation Project, a group of local women artists and teachers, is sponsoring the interactive art exhibit and related events. The exhibit shows how children, living under the conditions of war, have found ways to express and empower themselves through art and connect to the world around them. "This exhibit inspires the belief that peace is possible as we witness young people half way around the world make an effort to thrive and find meaning to their struggles," says Co-OP organizer Cheryl Qamar.
Co-Op has developed curricula for schools as well as presentations for groups interested in children and peace.
